The Brief
Sarrani Ltd contacted MGC to replace a large double-glazed unit at a prestigious Jaguar Land Rover dealership in Sidcup, Kent, after it was severely damaged.The glazing formed part of the curtain wall system at the showroom entrance—a busy, high-visibility area used by customers and vehicles. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first incident, as vehicles had previously reversed into the glazing, causing repeated damage. The latest impact left the unit beyond repair, forcing the area to be boarded up and temporarily taken out of use.
Our Approach
Following a prompt site assessment, we secured the compromised entrance doors to ensure short-term safety and access while the replacements were manufactured. Due to the shopping centre’s restricted delivery access and the urgency of the job, we implemented an ultra-precise installation plan to meet all logistical and operational requirements.
We specified powder-coated black aluminium doors with full glazing and commercial-grade hardware. Each unit was manufactured to include finger trap stiles, integrated closers and robust laminated and toughened safety glass for durability and compliance. A low aluminium threshold was also included to support wheelchair accessibility.
The doors were manufactured and ready within two weeks. Once our health and safety documentation and work permits were approved by Westfield Stratford, our skilled operatives proceeded with the installation at 11pm, after Gymbox’s closing time, to minimise business disruption. The new doors were transported into the building using specialist trolleys, while the old units were dismantled, removed and prepared for disposal at MGC HQ.
By 3am, the new doors were installed and fully operational. To avoid any delay for the early morning opening, our project manager remained onsite with the new security keys and personally handed the building back to Gymbox staff at 6am.
