School Window Repairs
Ongar School required a modern window upgrade to improve the performance, safety and appearance of their existing glazing. As a busy educational environment, it was essential that the solution provided not only improved thermal efficiency, but also met the practical demands of daily use within a school setting.
To achieve this, we installed the Edu-Glass System, a purpose-built solution tailored to the needs of schools, colleges and educational facilities.
Our Approach
Our EDU-Glass System was used for this project due to its specification, safety and overall performance. As part of the upgrade, particular care was taken to match the existing building aesthetics, with the external green finish precisely colour-matched to the existing RAL colour of the original windows, ensuring a seamless and consistent appearance across the school.
Unlike standard glazing, EDU-Glass is specifically engineered for education environments, offering:
- Excellent thermal performance, helping to regulate internal temperatures
- Long-term durability, reducing maintenance and replacement costs
- Compliance with educational building safety standards
This made it particularly well suited for Ongar School, where reliability, safety and visual consistency were all key considerations.

As part of the Edu-Glass System, the outer pane was fitted with tough laminated glass, delivering significantly enhanced durability, superior resistance to breakage, and improved acoustic performance within the classroom environment — a key benefit for busy educational settings.
Trickle vents and window trims were also powder-coated to precisely match the external frame colour, ensuring the Edu-Glass installation achieves a seamless, high-quality finish fully aligned with the existing building.

Finally, the windows were upgraded to include controlled opening sections (above), allowing for improved airflow, along with restricted hinges to enhance safety for pupils and staff – which is another feature of our Edu-Glass System technology.
The Results
The new windows were manufactured and installed to current educational compliance standards by MGC’s NVQ Level 3 qualified glazing specialists.

The completed project has significantly enhanced the school’s environment, delivering:
- A safer glazing system designed specifically for educational use
- Improved thermal efficiency and internal comfort
- Increased durability to withstand everyday use
- Achieving the perfect RAL colour match to keep with aesthetic across the building
The school now benefits from modern, high-performance Edu-Glass window frames that meet safety and ventilation requirements, while maintaining the original appearance of the building. Internally, classrooms enjoy improved lighting, reduced noise and a more comfortable learning environment.

This project demonstrates MGC’s attention to detail and experience in delivering high-quality bespoke glazing solutions for schools, combining practical performance, safety compliance and careful attention to detail.
