Commercial Window Upgrades
The client required a glazing solution to support the conversion of a Manchester city-centre building into a combined restaurant and retail space, with significant changes to the existing layout.
Existing entrance openings were removed and replaced with fixed glazing to match the current system, while a new side entrance with doors suitable for public use was introduced. The brief was to deliver a clean, modern finish with maximum natural light, while matching the performance and appearance of the existing glazing system and incorporating new access for public use.
Toggle Glazed Windows Installation
The building featured a toggle glazed system, aligned with our City-Glass System, designed to deliver a clean, frameless appearance using structural silicone bonding.
To ensure a seamless integration, our team made a number of refinements to the City-Glass System, including bespoke pressing plates and additional insulation beneath the glass. This ensured the new installation matched both the appearance and performance of the existing glazing.
Due to the size and weight of the units, a glazing robot was used to safely position the panels within the constraints of the city-centre site.
Aluminium Entrance Doors
Alongside the fixed glazing, the client required new entrance doors to accommodate increased footfall. As the original openings were designed for fixed glass, ALU Glaze manufactured bespoke aluminium doors specifically for this project.
The doors were constructed using commercial-grade aluminium, powder-coated to the required specification and fitted with laminated safety glass to ensure durability, safety and long-term performance in a high-traffic environment.
City-Glass System Windows Fitted
Despite a tight programme and the technical complexity of the glazing system, the project to deliver the installation on time.
The finished façade integrated perfectly with the existing glazing, preserving the building’s architectural intent while supporting its new commercial use. The bespoke entrance doors now provide a robust, secure and visually consistent access point for customers.
Our team completed the project, signed it off and handed it over in time for the Manchester city-centre venue to open and begin trading as planned.
